M h He's not here with us today, if you guys don't mind, though, I would like to to say something nice about Scott absolutely mm hmmm. We are assembled here today to pay respect to our honored friend, and yet it should be noted that in the midst of sorrow, this absence takes place in the shadow of new comic cons the sunrise of new conventions, conventions that our beloved comrade gave his time to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice of vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom on this episode of Our Friend.

I don't know, Dave, like we might be Wayne, we might be doing some more of these things, but uh, it's it's comment. It's a common episode. That's right. Hey, we're we're way over due. It's been a while, it's been a lot while. Yeah. Uh, if you're listening to this one, if this is your first time listening to a conment episode, go back. We did. We did a common episode that kind of talks about the history of comic cons and some fun facts, and you know, then we did a we did a follow up comment to Electric Boogaloo because we we wouldn't We went and did a whole lot of cons that time. Yeah, uh, you know, and now we're back because we we had a lot of fun. We did like what six seven cons last year?

2:34 Yeah, something like that. Yeah, I've lost track we did so guys. You guys have already been to one. Uh and uh, you know, it's Friday. We're you know, I know, in a couple a couple hours, we're we're all heading our own directions and we got two cons to go to, right, Yeah, that's right. Yeah, you guys are what is it? It's Fan Expo Cleveland. Yeah, that's right. Never been to this one, so this is a first for me. Yeah, I heard it's a good one, you know, with a lot of good stuff talked about it. But I'm looking forward to seeing it. Yes, I'm here all well, uh, and I'm of course, I'm a I'm a I'm staying local. I'm gonna head to Horror Hound here in Cincinnati. Uh. But more on those two at the end of the episode, because for now, let's let's jump into it. Let's uh, let's talk about where we've been. Uh, you know, you want to start with Uh, let's start with lexing and Comic Con. I think that was our first one last season, wasn't it.

3:25 That was there just because I wanted to go along for the ride to hang out with you guys. I didn't specifically have anybody to meet. I know Wayne had gone to meet some people, but for me, it was there just to hang out with you guys, to experience the convention. Because obviously this' you know, the beginning of the con season. So Wayne this, you know, like Dave, I'm I'm along for the ride on this one. You you kind of had an agenda and there was one person I thankfully got to meet because of you. But tell tell us Wayne, Uh, what what what was the agenda for Lexington Comic Con. I think it the agenda was just to start the convention season because they had a lot of great guests. Don't get me wrong, they had a lot of great guests, but I think some of them we'd already met, and a lot of them just weren't were of genres that we weren't interested in. I personally was went and wanted to go because of the comic artists that were there.

4:20 There were quite a few of them, really really good ones, and I got to meet them all too. Met Kevin Nolan, Jose Lewis, Darcia Lopez, which he's always been an idle of mine. I love his work ever since he used to do Atari Force, Jim Brigman, she was the artist on Power Pack back in the eighties. And then, of course my personal favorite, and this is the one you were talking about, Jim Storenko, who's a legend, a comic legend. His covers, his work on X Men is just phenomenal and he's an incredible person, very interesting person to meet. And I'll say that. This guy, I mean I knew the name Wayne. I just didn't know the personality and he's he's like he's like stan Lee, Robert Downey Junior and Hugh Hefner rolled into one with a little bit with with a little bit of Dean Martin.

5:12 Right. The dude does a rock star. I actually, you know, he's he's done so much for Marvel, But I was kind of shocked and surprised looking at his work that he did a lot of concept art for the Raiders of the Lost Ark And as soon as I saw that print, I had to have it and I had to have his autograph on it. But the guy was just a blast to talk with. Yeah, I mean, it was great meeting all these comic artists, and of course it's a good convention. It's a great convention, especially if you are a comic book fan and you're going there to meet the artists or just to shop. Their dealer's room is absolutely incredible. We didn't really spend too much time down at the in the actors area.

5:55 The only really experienced we had is David and I got our photographs taken with cat Her and Tate from Doctor Who which was you know, was exciting seeing her again. M hmm. I'll tell you what, Wayne, you you bump into her one more time? I think you guys are going steady at this point. I'd love to meet her again. You've seen yeah, you I know, I know we've talked. You've talked to her at motor City. Uh you know lex Lexington. Yeah, she's uh, she seems to always be on your list there, Wayne. I'm always happy to meet her. She's a great person and a great companion. Yeah, yuh, you got You're absolutely right though, Wayne. A lot of great talent, a lot of great celebrities here. And it's one of those situations where when you make a habit of going to these things, you're going to start to see the same the same faces. Yeah. Uh and Catherine Tate's situation with Wayne. Sometimes that's a that's a great thing, but uh an other times it's like, well, you know, it's like, hey, I've I've I've met that that individual, I've talked with that individual, and uh now I want to move on and I want to do more.

6:54 You know, we're always happy that we see Sometimes we see these familiar faces. It's great they're coming back. But uh, you know, in this instance, you know, I was kind of like David, I was along. I was long along for the ride like you were. And Uh, I like that we kind of focused more on the the artists this time, you know, especially the comic artist. I thought it was a really good, really good trip. I had a blast. I knew you did. Uh. Moving on. Uh, it wasn't long after that we uh, we were going to the spring horror Hound in Cincinnati. I gotta tell you there's some amazing uh meeting greets there. Horrorhound is always I mean they you know, if you if if they've got room for one hundred people, they're they're bringing two hundred, right, It's packed. This is one of those this this is this is the one con It's it's elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder, right, David.

7:47 Oh, absolutely, I think it's too credited. Sometimes it's a great convention, don't get me wrong, But I think you've kind of outgrown the space that they're at. I worry about that as it gets bigger and bigger each each season. Yeah, I feel like they may it might be time to move down to the convention Center. Are I should? Yeah? Yeah? Who the David? Who'd you meet at Horrhound? That you were excited about. So I met a few people there. I know William Catt was one of them. But a couple of cool experiences I had there. George went was another one. Him and William Cat were there because of house. Obviously. I remember waiting at George's table. Uh, he wasn't there yet, so I just waited for a little bit and I was like the second person in line. But he stepped out when he arrived. He came up to the table and he had like some fruit that he had sat down on the table, and he looked at me and looked out at the fruit. He goes, you can have one of those, but you gotta be good, and.

8:40 It just it was. It was hysterical when he did that. But the other experience I had there, I didn't get his autograph, but it was Eduardo Sanchez, who is the director of the Blair Witch Project and in other things like Exists. If you've not seen Exist, obviously it's a bigfoot movie. And anyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge bigfoot for sasquatch whatever. Yeah, And I remember asking him because I looked at his table and I didn't see any eight by tens or anything like that from Exists. So I brought up the conversation with him. I said, how can you don't have anything exist? He said, I was thinking about it, but they just didn't print any for me. And then I asked him. I told him, I said, you know, there's not a lot of good Sasquatch films out there, I said, except for Exists. I love that film and it It sparked him because I guess he got used to hearing nothing but about Blair Witch all weekend.

9:29 But when I started that conversation about Exist, I mean you could really see him, like, you know, sit up and really start getting involved in the conversation. But it really led into him talking about his Stumbman, the guy who played the Sasquatch in this and he was he was laughing, saying, man, this guy would call me and shouldn't be videos of him just running to Basically he looked like Bigfoot. It was a great conversation with Edward though, so great experience at that convention. I would say, Uh, listeners, if you if you're not familiar with the film Exists, it is fantastic if you if you like the big It legend. Uh and you should watch it because, uh, Dave, as you recall, I had a I had a conversation with Edward or Sanchez after that we talked about him, you know, doing the show and uh and us covering an episode for exists because you know, I mean, I'm sure they he has talked about the blair Witch project until he's blue in the face, but we've offered him an opportunity and we're we're working on it. So listener to stay tuned for that one. I'll tell you who was great though, the cast of blair Witch. If I could just throw out quickly, so are our good friend, an amazing artist, John Wright, who is a fixture at at Horror Hound.

10:38 Uh. He had done some some special blair Witch Scooby Doo themed paintings, and you know, we we told him, you know, uh, you know, we told the cast and they're like, where is this guy? How come we haven't met him yet? This is a Sunday, right, and so we're like, they're like, we want to talk to him, we want to meet him. So you get ready. We remember they were wrapping up, they get ready to leave, so they you know, we high tailed back to John. We're like dude, we'll watch your stuff. Just get over there right now. Take some prints because we had brought we had brought them all. We'd brought each of the one of them a print for their personal collection. So you know, we we got to hijack John's booth. I think he shares it with Bell Booking, Uh comic. So we got to we got to mind the store for a couple of minutes so that John could get over there.

11:28 You know, he was, He seemed pretty happy about the about the whole exchange. So I was glad that he had that that opportunity, and you know, it's always great when yeah, it's always great when artists can meet artists. And the fact that they were demanding they wanted John, they were demanding John Wright. So we're like, you know what, we can make John Wright happen for you. We can make an have it hold on, I'll tell you. Yeah, like you said that, William kat George went. They were they were fun to talk to. William katt Man he is he's just he's a conversationalist, you know, And it's amazing because you know it was gonna be months later we did, uh, we did Big Wednesday starring William Katten. Yeah, looking back, I was like, man, wish, wish we would have known in retrospect that, you know, kidding, couldn't talking about it, couldn't talk to them a little bit about that.

12:10 Uh. One of my crushes, Barbara Crampton, was there. Oh yeah, so I had the opportunity to meet with her, talk with her. Did a movie last year called Suitable Flesh with Heather Graham, who I know we'll talk about later. Uh. So Barbara was was pretty e stoked to see someone talking about Suitable Flesh because obviously, you know Reanimator and you know from beyond she's she's got like her her classics that everyone always talks about, but she is, you know, she's still making amazing movies, scary movies. So that's that's what I was excited to talk to her about. Wayne, Who did you Who did you run into a horrorhound? Who were you? Who are you there for? First of all, as most people know, I am not a horror fan. I mean, I watched the films, but I'm not the biggest horror fan. So I'm walking around these horror conventions, you know, looking for people who had started and other stuff, and really you know, these conventions like this, you don't have to be a horror fan because these people have been in so much, so many different films. You're going to find someone something or someone that you'll enjoy. And we spent We mentioned Edward Sanchez.

13:13 I really loved talking to him and getting him to sign my Star Trek poster because he had directed an episode of the second season of Strange New Worlds, which we had talked about the year before on our podcast, and I love getting behind the scenes autographs and it was great to getting his. And I also got to meet Zach Gallaghan, who you know, he's best known for Grimlin's but he was on Star Trek Voyager. But I think my favorite person meeting, because we get so little opportunity to meet these these type of people, was Richard band. He is a film composer. He's done so many horror films and he was selling CDs right there, signing it incredibly nice, very very talkative, and he signed my Stargate SG one CD and I was just thrilled to meet a film composer like him.

14:03 Wayne and I were talking about this recently that we would love to see more behind the scenes people come to these conventions, especially composers, you know, I mean, come on, conventions were listening to this and fight more behind the scenes people. We would love to meet them and talk to them and get to know them because you know, they work as hard as the people in front of the cameras. Yeah, and they're they're great to meet. I love talking to these people. Well, you know, I think they're doing a lot of these cons are doing a great job of bringing directors in. They are they are because that that wasn't something we were seeing even a couple of years ago, right, you know, in the last two years, we've we've we've met some amazing directors, you know, some of some of the some of the icons that we we look up to. So I'm all for it, though, like the you know, bring on, bring on the directors, bring on the composers, bring on the FX guys too, you know.

14:50 Absolutely, yeah, definitely. So we took it. We took about a month off, and then you know, there's this big one in Pittsburgh, the Still City. Con a big one. We're not We're not going to Still City. We can't. We don't have time to leave you know longer. And then and then they announced John Carpenter. That's what we're there's gonna be a Kessel run. We're gonna drive Sunday morning to Pittsburgh to meet John Carpenter and then we're gonna drive right back. And boy was it worth it. It really was. Oh man, it was so worth it now, I mean Carpenter, just to stand in his presence. Yes, for me, that was like I'm staying, I'm talking to the Beatles. You know, he John Carpenter. You know Christine, the Christine the Plymouth was there. You know. We we got a nice photo, little group photo with with John in the car. But uh man, what a what a privilege to talk to this guy, David.

15:48 It was just one of those situations where I couldn't stop smiling because I never ever imagined I would get to meet John Carpenter. There's just no way. I mean, years ago when we went to conventions, Wayne and I, I mean, these are the kind of people that you never expected to see come to a convention, at least even in our area. Maybe San Diego Comic Con sure, but in this area, no way. Never in a million years, no way. Now, all of a sudden, I'm standing in front of John Carpenter at a convention that was, you know, in driving range, and it's just absolutely amazing experience to meet him. And it was almost overwhelming actually because what he has accomplished over the years, and I'm a huge Halloween fan and just getting him to sign my Halloween poster, Oh my god, man, I was like a little kid again.

16:29 Yeah, I gotta tell you standing next to John, we're we're waiting for our photo and the camera operator is like, hey, give me a second, I gotta change out something on I think I think she was changing the battery on her camera or something like that. You're not gonna stand next to John Carpenter not talk. So you know, we're talking about we're talking about the show film Byen. You know. I told him, I said, John, We've we've done five episodes on you. You know, what do you what do he thinks next for us? What do you think do you think we should do? You know? And he kind of looked puzzled for a second. He goes five, I don't know, man, maybe maybe take a break. Alrighty, we will or will not have a John Carpenter episode this year. Based on John Carpenter's recommendation, we'll see Dave. Who else did you talk to.

17:15 John Ree Davies. It was my first time meeting him, and it's funny because I would meet him again later on another con that we'll get to here shortly, but getting to experience to him, he is such an incredibly friendly guy. Oh my gosh, he just all smiled. You can tell he's happy to be there to meet his fans, and it's funny. Jeff, I think you were with me when I watched his autograph and obviously was getting a picture of him as Sala from Indian Jones and he started signing it and he stopped and he kind of looked up at me and started laughing. He I almost signed this, Gimili. It was a great experience and I got another story. But I'm gonna talk about when we get to that convention with him, because he's just he's awesome.

18:00 He's a consummate professional every time we see him. Have you noticed he's he's kind of like Sam Raimi. He dresses for the occasion. Yeah. And when I say the occasion, obviously it's comic Conso I'm not saying he's cosplaying. I'm just saying the man is in a shirt and tie, always the consummate professional. It's really cool to talk. It was, you know, I'm standing there and I'm just like, wow, this is this is Salah. Yeah, you know it was. It was really cool to talk to him. I'm really cool to meet him. How about you, Wayne, Well, I mean I'd already met him, but of course I got his autograph because he was Leonardo da Vinci as well on Star Trek Voyager, and I had to have his name on my poster, which quite a few actors since then have saw his autograph on my poster and have pointed it out. They they're actually rather impressed that I got that. But yeah, you know, the big one I wanted to meet was Jeded Nelson.

18:47 You know, he's done so many things, but I'm as a kid, I was a huge Transformers fan and I love Transformers in the movie, and I had this mini poster I wanted him to sign. He the first autograph of hope like many that I get on it, and we did long time in line with him with I think you were with me, Jeff at that time. Yeah, I didn't think we're gonna make it. Honestly, I didn't either. It was just way at the end of the convention. But I got it. I'm really happy to meet him. I'm thrilled to have that poster hanging up in my office. Wayne. I'm curious because this, uh you know, I know we talked about your Star Trek poster on I want to say, like the last Common episode we did, and this thing has already amassed a lot of signatures, like your doctor Who poster.

19:30 Yeah, I've got forty five autographs on it now. Yeah, considering you started that, like what a year ago, year. And a half or ago two years ago. Yeah, I'm just. Curious, Wayne, like when when someone who hasn't done you know, maybe they did one thing for Star Trek and then they moved on, you know, like like, what what's the reaction when they see this poster and they, you know, like someone like Jason Isaac's I remember, you know you you'd you'd met him, uh, not too long ago. I don't know him from Star Trek, you know, you know everyone from Start Trek way, and let's be honest, but when when a when a celebrity that has done a small role on one of the Star Trek projects, when they see this poster, what, what's the what's usually the reaction.

20:11 They're actually very excited to talk about it, because usually when I see these people like like a torhound and it's a scarefest that will be talking about, you know, they spend all day talking about the same thing over and over and over again. And then I walk up with the Star Trek poster and they are full of stories. They love it or you know that they'll tell me a little bit about the episode. They know their character. I don't have to remind them of anything. They remember. They they're they're thrilled to see it. And they they're always very happy to sign my poster because they see all the names and it's kind of like adding, you know, their part to them to my legacies. I'm happy to talk to him about it. I'll tell you what I'm happy about. This was a a rare opportunity for me to talk to the lovely, the gorgeous Heather Graham, who happened to be there. And again I mentioned Suitable Flesh with Barbara Crampton. Heather Graham stars in Suitable Flesh. Heather Graham's you know, done a little bit more on the the opposite side of the camera.

21:17 You know, we talked about we want more directors, we want more behind the scenes people. I actually got a I had a chance to talk with Heather. We talked about her directing. We talked about suitable flesh. Here's what she had to say. It's here. I appreciate it. Thank hey, Heather here, it's going great. Well, I gotta tell the director that people are Yeah. Actually I well. I talked to Barbara a couple of weeks ago and she's like, yeah, because she's like, you onlyed up personalize. I said, well, this is for our show. We're gonna do a giveaway because we're coming to the episode. And she's like, well, Heather's gonna be and still I. Said, she's kind of. Got me into doing this. She's like, you sho, that's I should do it. Yeah, that's what I heard.

I mean I would, yeah, I mean obviously, horror fans are like the most passionate. They absolutely are. 23:40 Right, Well, yeah, yeah, it's like a tradition. Now, I love that kind of see that. Last year would have been my thirteenth and fourteenth time there. Well, let's talk work. We'll talk about the fourteenth, but let's talk about the thirteenth first. This one, guys, this one was really special to me because, as you guys remember, Charlie Hunum and Katie Cigal were there. They were doing like the Sons of Anarchy thing yep. And my brother Josh, who is a huge fan of this show, I told him about it and he was like, all right, I'll go now, joh. You know, and Josh isn't exactly like the first person buying a ticket for a comic con night, not at all, but this one was special for This one was really special to me because like Josh got you know, he came along for the ride, he was excited, he got to have some really good conversations with with Charlie Hunum and Katie Saga. We took a photo with him.

24:33 Uh. They got along famously. Then Josh kind of went off on his own and hit the vendors and wanted to see all the shops and all the all the stuff, all the wares. But uh, Dave, let me ask you first, who do you want to talk about? Uh? For the for the spring version of MotorCity comic Con. Well, we both know there's a lovely lady who was supposed to be there the previous year. Oh yeah, but canceled and broke all of our hearts because she canceled. But to our surprise, she was announced for the spring that we were talking about. And of course that is the lovely, beautiful Karen Allen, who plays Marion raven Woods.

25:14 Wow. You know she is still beautiful and. Stunning, absolutely stunning. Her smile, man, is just it's just melts. You, it does. Yeah, she's such a sweetheart too. I mean, just standing there talking to her and she's you just lose everything going on around you because you're just so in tune of what she is saying. And I believe she even talked about coming to our area a lot that we didn't know about, so we were kind of taken aback by that. Yeah. So parently, Karen's you know, she's really into the the art scene in Cincinnati. Uh So we talked a little bit about that. Obviously we had, you know, I had to talk to her Dave about Starman of course. Yeah, you know, so you know I haven't told her. It's like, you know, Marian is who you wanna you want to go out with you wanna you wanna hit you know, you want you want the adventure with Marion, but you want to come home to Ginny. And she was like, it's never been put that way. I love that. Thank you and just an amazing woman. Uh, you know, had had a chance to talk to her a little bit.

Yeah, Michigan person. No, we're actually from Cincinnati. Yeah, Cincinnati, Yeah, you do. I do. I do. I used to like visits. Well, we always joved through Cincinnati when I was. A kid because I grew up in Washington, d c. Okay, and then my family was from southern Illinois, so we would kind of, you know, freeze through there often. And then I have a love of the old arts and crafts, pottery from.

26:58 Like nineteen hundred to nineteen Okay. Cincinnati is kind of the home of that, so there's auction houses there. There used to be a really. Amazing look called humid. Cumular and Nolan. I don't know that I used to. I used to come to. Cincinnati by myself, stay in a hotel near the Big Square downtown. Yeah, and they had they would have auctions there once a year or something and I would go and. Uh so, I guess, and I still they do. I don't think they do. In Cincinnati every year. I think it's in July they do something called Pottery lovers Auctions. I mean huge hit my home from all over the world.

27:39 Okay, so you. Obviously don't love potter. I'm not pottery, not so much artifacts. Maybe Karen, could we could we ask you a question for our listeners. Okay, So it's the fortieth anniversary of Starman. I didn't even know that this year. This year, all right, yeah, and we we're gonna do a show on We're gon We we've done Starman before. We've done several several of your movies on our on our show. Any any fun fond memories working with John or working with Jeff. One big fond memory. It was a really, really wonderful experience. Loved working with Jeff, really loved. Working John Carkinger, Charlie Martin smith Is.

28:20 We did so many fun things together. Jeff and I started taking. Photographs together and have the shooting of the film, and we made a book as a game, and then had a mention for everybody that worked on the film. So and that on was you know how he's kind of he's continued doing. He's done this is this, This was the first one. I love it. I absolutely love it. Marion raven Wood is everything. She's the ideal woman. Well I did think that until until Jenny Hayden came along and Thedn't that that that line that you give Jeff in the movie Love is when you care more for someone else than you do yourself. That's just that's that summed it up perfectly. Just I Jenny, marian is who you want to go on adventures with. Jenny's who you want to.

The highlight for me was the fact, you know she she's she's one of the celebrities that will take photos at their table with you. Right. Yes, So, I've got a replica of the medallion from Raiders I was playing in this. You know she's she puts my arm, her arm around me, She's like, oh, let's take the photo. I said, hold on, I said, I would you be willing to you know, I pull it out of the bag and I said, would you be willing to hold this up? She's like, oh, I'll do better than that. She puts the necklace on her or you know, around her neck, and I get I get a photo of Marion wearing the medallion and then she gives me the medallion back. So the medallion I have it my my personal collection is the one right from Karen Allen's neck. I could not be happy about that. Wayne.

29:58 Did you get a chance to talk to her her? Yes? I did, yes, And I mentioned about being very very upset that she missed the convention in the fall, and she seems so uh uh kind of terrified a little bit, but uh so apologetic and stuff. But I said, I know. I I said that most you would be back, you would definitely be back, and here she was, so I was. It was great to talk to her. I mean I just love her. Oh yeah. Absolutely. As a reminder celebrities, uh, if you sign up for a for a con and then you cancel, Wayne will hold you accountable. He will find you like Liam Neeson he'll get you.

When they do cancel, they they usually try to make it up and they'll appear at the next one, or at least try to. We're still waiting on Joe to make his appearance, but I'm I am confident that he will eventually. Wayne. Who else did you meet at MotorCity? Oh? The thrill was meeting Gates McFadden doctor Bellell Crusher. I mean, you know, here's the third of the recent Next Generation cast that we've got to meet. I get to get her autograph, speak to her. She's just wonderful. I love Beverly Crusher, and I love Gates McFadden and was thrilled to meet her. Plus, I met Bruce Greenwood and Jennifer Morrison from the JJ Abrams Star Trek film. They were, you know, they were wonderful to meet. And a couple of great comic artists Billy Tucci and Joe Rubinstein, who is like he's another comic legend, Marvel legend. Got his autograph in my official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Omnibus, because he edited that entire thing, and just I love talking to him. He was telling me all about the Marvel stories, a little bit behind the scenes crap that was going on back in the eighties. So it was great listening to history.

32:00 You know something about Gates pick Fatten because it was you know, I am as of last year, I'm a TNG fan thanks to you, you two and Scott Hoffman on a phaser set to stun and uh something about Gates. I got to add here because as you guys know, I'm typically never tongue tied when we're talking to you know, a Hollywood star or you know someone in the industry. And the great thing about Gates is that she's been spending a lot of her time with a very successful podcast called Investigates yep, where she invites people on the show and they they have the kind of conversation that you wouldn't expect like her, Like I like the one first one I ever listened to was with her and aunts and Mount and I think there was there wasn't a whole lot of star trek conversation. It was just about life. It was about their lives and it was it was really fascinating. And the thing about Gates like, so we're talking and you know, I mentioned that we've got this show and and she she totally throws me for a loop because she she goes into interview mode and she starts asking me like, well, what what inspired you to start the show?

33:07 What? Why are you doing this show? And I was just like, I like Star Trek, It's like, I know what to say. I didn't know what to do. She really copy but just a lovely lady, lovely individual. It was great, great to meet her. Now then it's a it's time again. Wayne. I don't know how much you're gonna have to say. Actually, I know you're gonna have a. Lot to say. He is, because you know, even though it's not exactly your jam, you were plenty busy. Can we talk about what is what has rapidly become maybe our favorite con of the year, and we're talking about Scarefest. It is my favorite convention. Now, this is. Amazing, It really is.

33:48 It's taking on a life of his own. I know they've been around for quite a while, but man, the the lines that were there wererazy to get in. I mean, it's they They went all out on this one. They had the forty fifth anniversary a Fantasm happening. Last season we got the fortieth anniversary of Children the Corn happening, and everyone's there for it. Yeah, not to mention quite a few people from Scream were there. Oh gosh, yeah, yeah, Dave. Let's let's start off with Fantasm. You know, I've always loved that movie. But getting to meet this cast to see how much they not only love the film that they put out there for everybody to see, but the love they have for their fans, that made me fall more in love with this film.

34:44 When I originally went there, I wasn't going to get any autographs for Fantasm, you know, not really. I was going to maybe get a couple of them. But then after meeting them and just seeing how much did they have a passion for that film and their fans, it really made me want to make sure I got everybody on my eleven x seventeen Phantasm poster, and I'm glad I did. I'm telling you, that panel that they had there. Probably the best ones I've ever incredible. It is one of the best panels I've ever been to. Yeah, listening to them and just you know, thanking the fans just really really impressed me as a whole. It really did. How how much of a blast was it to talk with Don Coscarelli.

35:25 You know he even he's so fucking picture with the sphere. You know, he made sure you did not walk away until you got your picture with. The Yeah, he was. I I appreciate what he was doing for the fans because he was like, let's let's do a good one. Now, let's do a fun one, Let's do a silly one. Yeah, the guy, you know he and uh, didn't he get all excited when you when you mentioned Beast Master? Yeah, because he doesn't get to talk about that a whole lot, right. I brought my Beast Moinster poster for him to sign because that's one of my favorite fantasy films from the eighties, and he he lit up a little when he saw it, and he immediate he went into let me tell you what it's like working with kids and animals. He just went on talking about his experience directing The Beastmaster, which I absolutely love to hear.

36:11 One of his when he was talking about was the ferrets, you know, the struggle was to get them to cooperate in front of the camera. And he was telling me they use like a clicker, Like the one scene where they're going down the hallway, they're going from door to door to door, they were using a clicker to get them to do respond for them in front of the camera. I just thought that was fascinating. I mean, everyone there for Phantasm was just a delight to speak with, to interact with Dave. Obviously, we earlier this year, earlier this season on our show, we had a We had a great episode with the Lady in Lavender herself, kat Lester Y. You know, we got to talking with her while we were there and she's like, oh, I got to do this show. Let's let's make it happen.

Children of the Corn? You spoke with a couple, you know. Oh, I say, don't ask me about the film. I haven't seen it in like forty years. How about tell us about your conversation with John. Oh yeah, I got to meet John Franklin. You know, this is a great example of some of the people that you know, I get to talk to them about something different, something that they don't usually talk about during the week. And he had guest starred in an episode of Star Trek Voiger called Critical Care, and he was just thrilled to talk about Star Trek. It was great.

38:27 But right next to him, the table next to him signing autographs was John cass Here. He's better known for the crypt Keeper in Tales with Crypt but he also guest starred in the same episode Funny John Franklin, and neither one of them realized it because they never shared any scenes. They had no idea that they were in the same episode. And when I mentioned it, you know, John Franklin was like, really, are you sure, And I'm like, yeah, I'm absolutely certain, and you know, he looks over and yells at John Cassier and goes, hey, did you know we were in the same episode. And they're like, at this, we weren't. They're like, yeah, we were in the same episode. Yeah, but they say they never shared any scenes, so you know, they didn't realize it. But talking to both of them actually was fantastic.

One of the things that I really loved to finally get to talk to John Franklin about was the story that I told him was when I was a little kid and I first saw this in the theater, one of my friend's uncle took us to see Children of the Corn and after we got done seeing the film, this guy took us to a cornfield, backed up into the cornfield and turned off the car. Of course we're a little kid, so we're all freaking out about this. It was so much fun to tell John Franklin the story. He was just laughing and have a good time listening to that story. But I told him, I says, man, I said, you scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, and he looks at me. Honest, Well, I guess I did my job then, didn't I.

40:02 I'll tell you he was a lot of fun on the floor who was also there for children the corn I'm talking about John Philbin. Oh yeah, so. I you know, I kind of noticed he he notices us talking to Courtney several times and then you know, he's like, what's going on? Who? You know? How do you guys know Courtney. We're like, oh, well, Courtney did the show, and you know, we talked about his album. He's like, well, you know what, am I gonna. Do the show. We're like, he was getting on the show, do the show right now? We yeah, John, John was great. You know, he said, hey, you know, come back tomorrow morning. Let's you know, maybe we can do like a little five minutes and just just talk. Uh here's what we uh we got from John We are here live at Scarefest in Lexington, Kentucky, where the hot ticket is the fortieth anniversary of Children of the Corn, and we are delighted to crab a quick few minutes with one of the stars of the film, John Philbin. John, how are you doing? Then?

41:00 I'm really really enjoying myself, that's for sure. In Kentucky Scarfest. How are the people treating you this weekend? Everybody's so nice and basically they've just said I was part of their family, which I'm not used to at all. So now I got this huge family in Kentucky, which I love. I love that. John. I gotta ask you, how does this weekend compare to your first convention experience? My first convention was I was totally clue as our first experiences are totally clueless as to what was going on. And now I kind of. Know a little bit more about what the whole the beauty of being invited to a horror convention from for an actor is. You know, it's a really Actors are really grateful they get invited and they get to meet their fans, and it's because we're all kind of in this together and it's a beautiful holistic. I mean, everybody's working together because we all love horror and the jobs we've done and people that appreciate them because we're fans too, So it's radically different. I was in I think Baltimore somewhere, and I didn't know what I was doing, and I was overwhelmed.

42:06 John, when did you first realize that Children of the Corn was more than a horror film due to the fandom surrounding it. Yeah, it was probably ten years ago. The American Cinema Tech held a screening I think in Hollywood at Man's Chinese and I was like, why, okay, you know, I'll go, And there was a line around the block and I was holy shit. Before I even walked in, I was signing autographs. I'm like, I didn't even had I had forgotten I was an actor because I'd gotten into other things, you know, I was doing other things, and they invited me and I said, okay, I'll go. I had literally forgotten I was an actor, and I didn't know that anything I had ever done had a fan following. So it blew my mind. And now I've been doing horror conventions, you know, with the Children and the Corn guys for the last two to three years, and it's been a blessing.

42:55 Now, you played Nathaniel, one of the bank robbing ex presidents in Point Break. That is true as a California native. Did you grow up surfing? Yes, I am a surfer. I grew up surfing in California, southern California. My dad taught me how to swim, and then I taught myself how to surf. And now I teach surfing, which wasn't around when I was growing up, and it's really cool. But yeah, I've been surfing all my life. And as I got lucky to be an actor who got to be in studio surf films, who was a surfer and an actor. Because I was a surfer and an actor, I got to be in a movie called north Shore where I play a turtle and he surfs pipeline. And that movie changed my life. And it also might.

43:35 Be the movie that got me Point Break. I'll never know, I'd have to ask Catherine Bigelow. But Point Break was also a fun movie. You know, it didn't change my life like North Shore's totally affected. You know, it informed my life. It's part of who I am. But Point Break was a great experience, and I'm lifelong friends with the other people that were in my gang. That's fantastic to hear that safe to assume you were probably the guy teaching people how to good on the board. Then no, they had a surf instructor. I was just an actor at that time. I didn't know how to teach surfing. I just noticed that there was a market for teaching surfing to celebrities so that they could Because I was an actor and I had been in surf films, I knew what parts of surfing an actor could be in a close up in where he's doing the process of surfing. There's no way anybody can learn how to surf in the time it takes to make a movie.

44:27 It just can't be done. But there's certain parts in surfing where you can train an actor to sit on a board, duck, dive, paddle. Those are the only things an actor can learn how to do and pop up. Those are the only things an actor can learn how to do in the time it takes to learn how to surf. And that's where I started teaching actors. I started with teaching actors how to serf, like I taught Kate Bosware how to surf, you know, for Bluebrush, and that became this thing that I got really into in Malibu, teaching, teaching actors and other people. I teach anywhere how to surf. Yeah. In fact, when I go home, I've got two surf lessons scheduled in Malibu Wednesday and Thursday. So it's really been a good part of my life.

45:07 Now, you left that gang only to settle up with another one. Riding with the Cowboys and Tombstone. What was that? How was that experience? I can you imagine working with those actors. I was there from the table read with the original director, Kevin Jare, all the way till the last day of filming where Kurt Russell with my brother Robert Burr, who played my brother. In the movie, we're going through trailers. Kurt was just putting stuff in a big plastic bag and Robert's like, what are you doing. He goes, I'm stealing shit the last day. Because he's so experienced, he understands that when you're on a movie, you want to get as much prop and shit from that movie as you possibly can because it might become valuable. And as it turns out, Tombstone was a huge hit. When you make a movie, you never know.

45:54 But Kurt had faith in it. And Kurt knows more about movies than anybody. I think any living actor is doing it since he was a child. The last words Walt Disney said before he died with Kurt Russell. So so working with Kurt Russell and you know Powers Booth, you know Billy, Bob Thornton, Jason Priestley, you know all these actors that were so great, was as good as it gets in movie making. Now. I'm not a cowboy, but I like to pretend. I love to ride horses and I love to shoot guns. So it was super fun. It was great. You know, it's it's it's it's a note. There's a there's several people in that film that kind of talked tough to uh wide herb h your character, the Mclark, you're one of the ones that uh that didn't get and he come up and so you got you got one of the best lines. You know, you gotta watch the movie.

46:46 Got a little bit, you got a little bit of yeah to Kurt Russell and he knocks me out a little bit of a pistol whip. Right, I get pistol whip. That was that was White Urb's thing. He didn't shoot people. He he buffalo whipped them with the butt of his gun and knocked can out crack their skulls. Oh man. So you know, I was the guy that showed that that was one of his techniques of law enforcement. But then I get shot murdered in the OK Corral by the villainous Doc Holiday, the villainous. Doc Isla Day. How about that? Murdered Yeah, by the by the gang of outlaws that were that were called the the Ert Brothers and their villainous sidekick, Doc Holiday. John. That's fantastic. Listen. I want to wish you a happy fortieth anniversary for Children of the Corn next year, though next year you've got another big anniversary approaching for the Return of Living Dead.

47:36 It's right. Can we hope to see you doing conventions next year? Yeah, I'm gonna do so. This year because of Chris Rowe O, my great manager, and this great gang of Children in the Corn, we did like ten conventions. Those guys went to Europe twice. I didn't get to go because I'm kind of like Amos, I have a small part. I'm not one of the leads. But next year, in Return of the Living Dead, I was number four on the call sheet. So we're as. Many of this cast has survived. We're gonna do ten conventions all over the country. I'm even gonna go to Europe next year. Yet, next year is my year, next year is your year. We are hoping uh to catch up with you next year. Yeah, and John, we'd love to have you on the show sometime. Let's let's let's deep dive in the show.

And it's not just his film work, you know, his books, his his comic books that he did. He did quite a few comic books back in the early nineties. And beautiful harm work, unusual artwork, and he was he was selling his artwork there too, but still beautiful, beautiful work. And I'm just thrilled to be able to say that I've met him. They did a heck of a line. Oh it was worth it, worth it. David. I remember walking up to you and I said, where's I'm looking through the crowd. I don't see the red the red red ball cap. And I said, David, where's Wayne? And you said, oh, he's he's he's talking to Clive Barker and my first I was like, no, really, where is he? I know he's talking to Clive Barker.

50:08 I'm like, Clive Barker. My whole thought is Clive Barker never did Doctor Who star Trek. Why is Wayne talking to Clive Barker? Wayne? You know, and you just mentioned it when you just said, you know, hell Raiser, Like, what's your relationship with Clive Barker, because like, you're not the horror guy. Is no Barker the exception. He is one of the exceptions. You know, he's He's got a great career. But I just I love that film. I I remember, oh gosh, I can't remember how old I was when I went and saw that. I saw that in theaters. I don't think I was supposed to see it in theaters. This blows my They let things slide, they did, Yeah, they let things slide in this line of theaters. But I love the film, and you know, I I've over the years, I every time I come on television, I watched it and I own like three different of it. It's just you know, plus you know, like I said, I I loved his when you know, I love that work. I knew his name. So when he started doing comic books. I collected those and I just you know, I love his work.

51:12 Are you telling me? Wait? Are you telling me that if we do a Clive Barker episode on Hell Razor, like you you're in, You're gonna gosh. Yeah, I could talk a lot about It's one of the very very few films horror films that I could I could really talk about to mean that, and you know, it didn't scare me. I mean, it's it's not like it scared me. I just think it's a great, great film. David put that on the schedule. Please right now, I would have talked to Wayne about Hell Racer. I wish I wish our listeners could see the shocked look on your face just because it was priceless. Well, you know, I don't care if you're talking about you know, I pick any celebrity, right, They don't have to be an actor, you know. You know, if if Rick Flair, Mike Tyson's there and Wayne's in line, I'm just going to assume that they did something star Trek or doctor who you know, and he's not He's not in line to talk about their their other stuff. And here Wayne's talking to Clive Barker about Clyde Barker stuff and not you know, I just it just it stuns me, really.

52:14 And I want them to get the rest of the cast, especially the two main stars because you know, not only do I left the Hell Razor, but one was on Star Trek the other one was on Doctor Who. So there was Ashley Lawrence. Was she on either one of those shows? No? She I don't think she was in any of those shows. And Dave, I've never seen her as one of the final girls at any of these cons, Like. I've not seen her. I don't know. Doug Bradley though, wasn't he. Doug Bradley's been there. Yeah, we've know he was on with the Doctor Who was Star Trek Wayne, Well he did, he did one of the Doctor audios. That's what it works. Yeah, Okay, lots to talk about Scarefest. I know we're excited to go back this season.

So it's gonna be hard to top last year because that was amazing, especially with all the the Freddy's are not seeing up Freddy's Jason's now are there this year is the Freddy. Yes, Dave, like Dave, you and I are huge Friday thirteenth fans. We are, and we're standing next to was it six of them, of the six actors to play Jason Vorhees? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how you keep all of them in the same room, because like Ari was just very very very chatty, very talkative.

53:38 Yeah, you know. But talkative. Tom was talking. Yeah, oh yeah. Can we talk about that for a second, Dave, We're we're waiting in line, and again you've got six Jason's it's Wayne's fault. Yeah, And we understand, like sometimes there's you're gonna wait in line, right, there's gonna be delays because as they're doing there, maybe they're at a panel, or maybe they're signing autographs, you know. So the photo ops are kind of like a thing where it's like, hey, get there when they tell you to be there, and it moves. It typically moves very fast. It does very fast. Sometimes you got to wait a couple of minutes. So sometimes maybe the celebrity needs to take a quick lunch break or you know whatever. We were waiting and they were waiting thirty minutes later, we're still waiting on Tom Morga.

54:26 You know, he played he played he played Jason in Friday thirteenth at the New Beginning. H Finally they're like, hey, listen, if you want to wait for Tom Morgan to show up, you can, or you can take a photo right now without him and we'll discount it. No, we're moved. We're all like, we want all the Jason's. Yeah, come to find out, he's busy talking to Wayne lynn Is holding up the whole damn production. I didn't know. I mean they said I could get a quick autograph from him before he left. So I walk up there with my Star Trek poster. Now, I don't know if many of you know that Tom Morgan was like one of the main stuntman on Star Trek for like thirty years. I mean he was. He was Leonard Nimoy's stunt double in motion picture. He did the films, he did an ex generation D Space nine Voyager. I mean, he's he played over hundreds of different characters, and so I had to get his autograph on my poster, and when he saw it, he just started telling me all about it. And then I got a couple of selfies with him. But then the photo albums came out. He had these like three huge photo albums of pictures just from Star Trek. He must have had him stashed underneath the table just in case someone mentioned Star Trek or something.

55:40 And here I come, and he's plowing me every one of these pictures. And you know, he say, oh, this is from this up you remember this, and I mean all the way from Motion Picture, all through Enterprise. We were going through this, and you know, twenty twenty five minutes later, you know that someone finally comes up and says, you know, you need to go real quick, and well, you know, we haven't taken the selfie yet. So we took another selfie and and then he left. And then I text YouTube guys to tell you, oh my god, I had a great experience with with Tom Morgan. And you're like, so that's where he is. Yeah, we're I mean, this guy probably signs thousands of hockey masks at these conventions and they're like, hey, you got a photo up. Everyone's waiting, okay, and then Wayne comes up. He says, ah, one one more mask, one more, one more eight by ten, Waite says, I'm here for Trek and this guy pulls out a photo album from behind that blows the dust off and says, oh, sit down, we're gonna talk conversation.

I mean, all these photos, all these behind the scenes photos that were you know, personal, no one's else has probably seen them, you know, starting just him and his close friends and stuff. That was amazing. You did the correct thing. You did the correct thing. I mean, first off, I mean, you guys have been in the con business a lot longer than I have, you know, but in the several years I've been going with you guys, I don't think I've ever seen a larger production to meet, greet, or or get a sign signing with someone then than Robert England.

Yeah, I mean there are some guests where in order to get their autograph you really need to be there the whole weekend, and we were just there on Sunday, so yeah, they were just pretty much cutting the line off. It was really difficult if you were there just one day. To get it. And apparently it's like this all the time for Robert England. So if you ever go to a convention that Robert Englands n't hint, hint, we're gonna be talking about one a little bit. Get there early long time. See, we're getting a second chance. So we're hoping keeping our fingers crossed, you know, that we get it this time. It was it was pretty cool to stand next to the man He's wearing the glove, which I didn't expect that was that was.

You know, we're all squeezing into the photo and he just kind of but you know, if you look at the photo on our Facebook page, you can see I'm more out out of the right to the far left of the photo because you know, he kind of kind of made his way in kind of box me out. But you know what I'm not. I'm not gonna, you know, have words with Freddy Krueger. That's just no, none at all. No. No, he was giving me the bear hug with the right there, oh the. Claw right around your neck there. Man. Oh yeah, Like I said, it was a great photo. I love that it was. It's one of my favorites.

59:33 Yeah, let's talk about another favorite for you, Dave. You had a pretty nice conversation with Tom Wilson. Yeah. I mean, this is I know he does a lot of conventions, but this is my first time going to one where he was at little history with him. I was in Andersonville with him back in ninety four, so I was excited to meet Tom Wilson because I wanted him to sign my production book that they gave all to the cast and crew. So I was waiting in his line. You know, he went behind the table and was you know, motioning people on. Everybody's there, clearly most likely getting back to the future autographs right getting biff and he signs them so much. So I pulled my the guy who I paid to get my autograph, and he goes, go ahead and get it out. I pulled it out, and as soon as I pulled it out, Tom Wilson saw it and like his eyes lit up in excitement to see that Andersonville book because he clearly doesn't get to sign a lot of that stuff, I'm sure, and getting to sit and I know he had a really good experience because I think he's had done a couple of podcasts on his experience with Andersonville, and he's mentioned, you know, it's it's nice to talk about that experience.

1:00:41 He had a good time, apparently, and it was so nice just to talk to him, and I had, you know, Wayne's talking about a photo album that Tom was showing. I brought a photo album of all behind the scenes of Andersonville. That I pulled out the show album and Tom was loving. I mean, he was going through you know, he had to go quickly because he had a long line, but you know he was pointing out people, Oh my god, yeah here, and he even looked at me, goes man, nice collection, and I'm like, you know, thanks, But it was just nice to see his reaction on Andersonville. Good experience. Tom was awesome, very nice. Jeff, you had a little bit different experience with him. Well, I mean, listen, I had a great experience with Tom. Tom Wilson, he is he this is a guy that knows how to work the crowd. Yes, when you're waiting for him, he was a lot of fun. I don't know that he was as happy to see me as he was you because I had a different agenda, you know.

There was a guy and his son were in front of me and we had to wait a little bit. I don't remember where he was, but he was doing something. So we waited a little bit and it was cool, no problem. And as we're waiting, we were having conversations with you know, I guess his agent and stuff like that, and they were talking to us. But when he did show up, so this guy and his son, who's dresses Indiana Jones, saw John walks up and you know it, starts talking to him, big smile on his face, and he sees that the kid dresses Indiana Jones and they wanted to get a photo with him, and the father was like no, no, no, it's just you and him, and they're like, no, get in here, get in here, and he gets the father to come with them as well, so they get a nice three shot. But it was fun watching him making sure that the kid was having a good time. He would reach around and like poke the kid, making him smile and laugh, and it was just so nice to see that interaction with John and his fans, and it

1:05:43 just made me appreciate him so much more as an actor and everything he does, you know, because of seeing what he does and how much he appreciates us. So great experience with him. I think the next time we see him, I gotta talk to him. You sure, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, you know. There was There's so many great guests there. There were, you know, George t Kay was there, the third of the final living Original Star Trek crew members or casts that I got to meet. But I think the thrill of the convention was meeting a comedy legend himself. John Cleese. I had been wanting to get his autographed for so long. You know, the guy's done, not Monty Python and Fawlty Towers and all the films and stuff that he's done. But in nineteen seventy nine he made a very brief, fleeting appearance on an episode of Doctor Who, and I had to get his name on my poster, probably one of the only person the entire weekend that asked him for a doctor autograph that it was with me when I got the autograph. It was an incredible pleasure to finally meet him. It was just amazing.

But before we get before I get to that, I'd love to hear because you know, we we went up there and you guys met a music icon, right. Oh yeah, you. Couldn't talk about this artist. Yeah, you couldn't grow up in the eighties without knowing this guy, weird Al Yankovic. I I had to get his autograph. I mean, well, you know, as I said with earlier the podcast that I got Judd Nelson's on my Transformers poster, well I had to get weird Al's well.

And you know, like I said, you couldn't grow up in the eighties without you know, hearing weird Al's music on the radio. Loved it, loved his music. I'm so glad that he was there, and he's coming again this year too for yeah. Ye, now he's another one. I'm guessing he's probably signing a lot of CDs or albums or eight by tens. Yeah, when when you put the Transformers poster in front of him, what's what's his reaction to something like that. I think he signs a lot of Transformers. I mean, he wasn't surprised. Okay, he wasn't surprised. I wish I would have brought I wish I would have brought my CD.

1:09:00 I didn't think about it at the time. And since we if we get to get to go to Galaxy Con this year, I'm going to get his autograph on the CD itself. Good I do. I'll tell you what made me real happy. You know, we we've talked about directors, We've talked about celebrities, I mean a movie stars, television stars. These conventions also give you the opportunity to talk to with some of the the legends from professional wrestling. Oh yeah, I was. Like two years ago I had the opportunity to meet Rick Flair, my you know, one of my all time favorites. As you guys know, I'm a big fan of the Four Horsemen. So I'll tell you right now, I I was happy to drive up there to meet Arn Anderson, who was there signing autographs, taking photos, talking to fans, and as one of those rare opportunities, like you know, sometimes whether it's a Friday, Saturday, sometimes Sunday, it's all about timing, right, Guys. You get to someone's table, there might be five people there, there might be five hundred people there. This was the rare occasion where Sunday morning CON's just starting, no one is waiting to talk to Arn.

1:10:10 I walked right up to him. I'm wearing my four Horseman T shirt. He's got a big grin on his face. He's like, that's the best dress man I've seen all weekend. Come over here, brother. So you know, for me, I'm ten years old again. And we're talking. You know, he's talking about his life in the ring, outside the ring. You know. I'm like, hey, I'd love to get a photo with you. He's got his world television title sitting on the table next to him, and I saw a photo where he's got it on his shoulder. I said, hey, I'd love to get a photo. I'd love to get that autographed. He's like, all right, well let's take a photo. And he grabs a title and he says, ah, you know this ain't right. I think you should hold it.

1:10:52 So he puts his world title on my shoulder for this photo op. And again I'm losing my mind because of course this is Arn Anderson, of the Four Horsemen of the brain Busters, and I just can't believe that I'm holding his world title belt. He's got his arm around me and we're taking a photo with the four Horsemen, you know, hand gesture. Just an amazing moment for me. I'll never forget that one. So I know, I know Galaxy Khan was like, are we gonna go? We're not gonna go. I'm so happy to both of you for saying yep, we're definitely going, because that was my opportunity of a lifetime to meet, you know, another one of the four Horsemen. So I just remember now I am too, But I just remember when you came to us, because we weren't with you. We were doing I think we were getting autographed somewhere else. And I remember your face when you came to us after that experience. I mean it literally looked like you were a ten year old old against Yeah, just the excitement you saw in your face and then you just excited to tell us what had happened. It was just very impressive. Just another example of how amazing is at these conventions to meet these guests and experience them.

1:12:00 You know, it's amazing, it really is. Galaxy con this year was a little bit different from me because I got to bring to my great nephews with us, and Owen who had been to Horrorhound with us. Jeff, he was with us, you know when we met Matthew Lillard, the older his older brother Aiden. This was his very first comic book experience, comic book convention experience, and so this is his first time getting to see what it looks like in person, and so I didn't know how it was going to go. But I'm telling you, those two had the time of their lives. And I'm so glad they got the experience. And I think you guys too the convent to help them get to experience this. And I'm telling you, I mean when they got home, they were already missing it. You guys know what it's like when the convention's over, you're already missing it. Yeah, they were already texting me and saying, man, I want to do another one. I can't wait till we go again.

1:12:51 And it was just so nice to see how much fun they truly had. And I don't think what they knew what they were in for, because when they saw the crowd, guy warned on I said, there's gonna be a long line, there's gonna be a lot of people, and I guess they didn't believe me until they actually. Well, it's always it's always great to see something to bring someone of their first con and see their reaction because like you kind of get to live vicariously through them for a weekend or a day, whatever it's going to be. It was great to see the reaction to ou It all works, and you're right, like you know, the second you get out, you get home and you get out of the car, you're already looking up like where's the next one? When is the next one? You know they were doing it. But you know, I told you guys. I mentioned Josh earlier when we went to Motor City and Spring that night he had text me and was like, Hey, there's a this this con in Indiana and there's this con. Like you get caught up in it. You just want you want more and more of.

Uh if you don't know the name. He wrote Batman Resurrection, which kinda is kind of like the sequel to the eighty nine Batman, right, So he was there, he had the book. I was like, you know what, that's it was on my Christmas list. It's not anymore because I'm just gonna buy it and ask him if he's willing to sign one. Did a great inscription.

1:14:25 Had had a nice conversation with him. Really great guy, really talented writer too. I can if you if you're a Batman fan by Batman Resurrection, you will you will love it. It was a great read. And you know, I know he's talking about doing more, so I'm looking forward to his next one. So yeah, I regret not getting a copy there. But I just saw today that he is going to be a Galley sicm this year again. So I hope to pick up a copy. Second chance. Ye, yeah, the second chances you better grab on when you can. Yeah. That's another one that's shaping up really good for this year already. It is so. I met two other people at Galaxy cons that I had great experiences with. Keifer Sutherland was one who I never thought again, just like John Carpenter never imagined never Sutherland would come to a convention. Yeah, but there's really meet me. And he was so nice, Wayne, you were with me, I was when I met him, but very down to earth, very friendly. I remember, you know, telling him, you know how amazing of a career that him and his father both had, and you know, he was thanking me, and the what he told me really put things into perspective for me. He looked at me and he goes, you know, it's love. I love coming to these things because it makes me be able to meet the people who made me famous. And I'm like, wow, that's really impressive from Keifer when he said that. You know, it was such a great experience with him. But then I also met Ernie Hudson, who everyone knows is a ghostbuster.

1:16:34 No? He did? Oh man, Wayne, any any other memorable moments from Galaxy Con for you? Well, I get to meet one of my favorite artists from back in the eighties and nineties, Howard Chaikin. But this is the second time I got to meet him, and so far I haven't impressed him very much because I seem to like the books that he does not like. You know, before he had brought a copy of Black Hawk, which I've always been a big black Hawk fan, and told him how much I loved the series, how much I loved reading it when I was a kid, and how much of it made me a fan of black Hawk, and he kind of rolled his eyes and was like, oh my god, I hated writing the so and so this year I thought, I'm gonna try something different. I will talk about his Star Trek art that he would did, because he did a lot of the covers, especially for the movie adaptions of three, four and five, and I think the fantastic art work. He does not. He does not like his Star Trek work. He's he's he just I don't know if he's he's just very critical of his early work. He shouldn't be because it's it's beautiful work.

And so when he shut up a Galaxy con, I was like, I'm not I'm not messing around. And again, I'm sure he signs thousands of you know, Michael Myers masks and photos. So it put a smile on my face when I put down. An Escape from New York print, Yeah, and. He saw that and he kind of smiled, you know, because he he wrote, he co wrote Escape from New York, and he saw John Carpenter's name on that, because you know, again when we met Carpenter, you know everyone's getting Halloween.

It's like, yeah, but I like Escape from New York, So it was kind of cool to talk with him briefly about Escaping New York, his writing process, so and again, just a fantastic individual. Loves people coming up to him. He always wants you to. Did you notice, Dave? He always wants you to come around the table and sit down next to him when you're talking with him. He's the friendliest guy, which is funny. You know, whether you're talking about Nick Castle from Halloween or Tom Morga from Friday thirteenth, Sometimes the scariest, most brutal killers in these movies are the nicest, friendliest guys that you're ever going to talk to or you're ever gonna meet at these things.

Uh, tell me about Fan Expo Cleveland, because when you guys do this at me, I was like, that's that's the same weekend as Horror Hound And you guys were like, you had already committed. I didn't know anything about this convention until Wayne brought it to my attention, especially who was going to be there. So Wayne, I'll let you go ahead and enlighten the listeners on it. Yeah, he was the big names this weekend. Oh well, I always said that if he makes an appearance anywhere near us, I have to be there. And that is David Tennant, you know, doctor who himself. It's so rare that I get a chance to meet and get the autographs for someone who. You know, it was Doctor Who and he, I mean, he took the show from being a small success to an international, you know, phenomenon. And to get his name on my poster is like incredible.

It's gonna be a great event. There's a lot of big name stars there, especially if you're a huge fan of the DC universe or specifically Superman.
