I'm Jeff Johnson, I'm David Burns. Let's talk about Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part one. Go, everyone is raving. Mission Impossible. Dead Reckoning is a rullercoaster of insanity.

0:41 You have no idea. It's off the chart spectacular. Tom Cruise has undone himself. Proto plan b. Okay, what is that? Prepare for the best movie of the summer. Hey, god, tickets on sale now, Dave. Tom Cruise is back. He is bringing some familiar faces with him. He's bringing some new faces with him. Let's talk about the cast of this, uh, this new Mission Impossible film. Well, as you know what, Tom Cruise is going to knock it out of the park. He's starting to prove himself with this big comeback that he's doing. We got it with Top Gun Maverick last year, and we get it again with Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. But you know, I being Raimes is back. Simon of Hague is back. Um. You know it's it's exciting to see those guys together again. Of course we get Rebecca Ferguson. Yeah, she's back from I think she dates back to is I think Ghost Protocols whenn't She's introduced, h her is Lafou's characters introduced. I've been I've been happy to see her coming back. Vanessa Kirby playing the White Widow. She's back. And then we got some new we got some new faces, the hottest, one of the hottest new villains for this franchise. Us talking about Gabriel played by e Sai Morales. Oh wow, man, he another actor who knocked it out of park in this film. Um. I thought he did an incredible job and held his own against Tom Cruise. He's fantastic. I mean,

2:13 he's one of the He's one of those character actors who he's he's been around for for several decades. Um man, we have is this what we've been missing from him this whole time? Because he was beIN fantastic He was love, loved, loved the Sai Morales on the big screen going up against Ethan Hunt. How about how about his muscle? Let's talk about the the awesome performance by none other than Palm Clementiff oh yeah. So you know, any great villain needs a great henchman or in this case, a sheetman. I don't know if you would say henchwoman, henchwoman, I guess. Yeah. She was fantastic in this and she has a really good story arc um as well in this movie. I can't give it away because we are a spoiler, but you're gonna love her character. She's she's scary felt most of the movie. It's like just the deadly assassin in this film. Yeah, she was fantastic. Uh. Shay Wigham, who we've talked about before on this on this uh, well on a film buy. I love seeing him his character Briggs. You know, this is one of those movies, Dave.

3:19 We've got multiple groups, multiple people chasing I feel like everyone's chasing everyone everyone, you know at some point, you know, But that's great for the story, you know. It's it's like you you really don't know who's side to follow, Yeah, because you you know, obviously we're always gonna follow Ethan ethan hunt. But you know, is he is he in the right? Is he not in the right? You know, he's he has a habit of going rogue. Right. There's so many characters in this, but all the characters are well written and well rounded that you don't lose track of anybody. And you're right, it's like everybody's chasing each other and you want to see who you're following, but you get involved in everybody's story because it's so well written. We were miss talking new characters. Let's talk about the new leading lady, because this this franchise has been giving us some very strong female, uh female leads, female characters. You know, Rebecca Ferguson back again, Vanessa Kirby back again. We're introduced to Haley at Wells character Grace, who's fantastic. Jeff absolutely loved her. Finish. She's on screen and you get involved in her story. You just immediately want more of that character.

4:28 And we get a lot of her in this and I love that so much. Yeah, I all I can hope for is that we're going to get more of her in future installments because she was amazing. The chemistry between her and Tom standing. Yeah, let's let's talk a little bit about this story. Uh let me, let's let's check some boxes. Dave, is Tom Cruise gonna run very fast? Yes? Is Tom Cruise gonna do some insane stuff on a motorcycle. All right, I'm in. I'm good. No, Let's let's talk a little bit about this action man, because this this franchise just seems to top itself every time they put a new one out. Man, Uh, it's it's you. You see so many stunts in this movie, so many action sequences in this movie. One of them goes on for a very long time, but you never ever get bored. Jeff.

5:15 It was just like, oh my gosh, I don't want this to end. It is so well done, so action packed. It just drops your jaw because it's done so well, You're like, oh my god, how did they do this? It's I know which one you're talking about. And the pleasant thing there, aside from it just being an incredible action piece, was something I didn't I wasn't ready for, was the the comedic elements of of that, of that scene and of the movie. Like this, if this is something that we don't typically get in the Mission Impossible movie is is a little bit of comedy, but I feel it was it was just it was spot on perfect. It was there. There there's a part in that that action sequence that Jeff, I I was laughing hysterically in that theater.

5:55 It was done so well. Yeah, I was too, man. Uh. I mean we all you know, you've seen the trailer, so we know that the death defying stunt this time out is that that that crazy uh bike jump you know, off the mountain, off the cliff or whatever you want to call it, uto a into parachute mode. I feel like anyone that has not seen this movie, they don't they're not even aware of what's coming their way because there are some huge stunts, uh, some very intense action. This movie is jam packed with it, and you got nothing, you know now that I looked, you know, I watched the trailer again and I thought, you know, I wasn't even ready for this. They didn't allude to that, and I was still like, wow, this looks like the biggest action of all. At one point I literally looked over to you, just amazed at that it kept going and it kept going and kept going. I'm like, oh my god, it doesn't let up.

6:48 But you don't want it to, you know. I. Yeah, the action on this one is fantastic. And you know, with the action, Jeff, you know, we could sit here and talk forever about the action in this movie. But what I found amazing about this movie is the story, the characters that were written in this. You know, you would think you have a movie that's so compact with so much action that it's going to lose the story, it's going to lose character development because it has so much squeezed into this three hours. But Jeff, it didn't. It was so well balanced. The characters were so well written you cared about them, You had story arcs, you had a story that you were so involved in that you wanted to continue to see what happened. And it just blended so well with that action. Yeah, something that Christopher mcquarie has has done really well recently with this franchise, you know, because you know we obviously we know he's directing this one. Uh he's like, you know, co co writing credit on this one. You're right though, man. Like the storyline, it just it draws you in. It's it's a smart storyline. You know.

7:54 When we're when you're talking about like spy fantasy, spycraft types films, movies like this, it'd be very easy. You know, like like look at the Fast and Furious franchise, where it's just a bunch of a bunch of big, explosive action scenes just just tied together, and the story you really don't give a shit about. Um. I feel like this one it was like a Tom Clancy movie. Yeah, you know, unfolding. I was really invested in the story and the action just you know, it doesn't look out. Was the icing on the cake. Yeah, the story of the action, everything, it just not let up. You will not be bored in this movie from the from the moment it starts to the moment it ends. You will not be bored. Dave. I know you have a special place in your heart for the music of any film. You know, you're always You're always big on composers. What do you think of a Lauren Balf's score for this one? Man, I tell you it's it's hard to find that original action music because you know, you get so much generic music going on in movies today. But man, it was not generic on this one. You know, this music nailed this movie. Of course, you get the mission impossible theme, which you expect, and it hits at the right moment when it needs to hit. But man, again, with with the story of the characters and the action all blended together, this music blended extremely well with this movie. You know it just it pulls you to the edge of your feet and just gets your heart pounding and pulls you into that action. Yeah. Credit credit to this guy because this is something where we're on our our seventh film in the in the franchise, and we know what

9:26 the mission Impossible theme is. But the way he gives it his own fresh take, you know, his own update, uh, and then blends it throughout the film and and kind of helps tell the story. Love the music and this one, this is this is one of those like you know, give me, give me the give me the give me the score. You know, I listen to it when i'm you know, in the park running or something like that, you know, you know, hands like like Tom Cruise obviously exactly. Yeah, but when it hits, man, you're ready to go man, because it's here we go, Here we go. It certainly does hit u. Dave. Let's let's answer the question. I think we've we've we've put all our cards on the table, as Kittrich would say, see it, stream it, skip it, go see this movie in the theater. Do not say I'm just gonna stream it. I want to watch it on TV. Do not do that to yourself. Do not do this to this movie because it deserves you see on the big screen. Jeff, what about you listeners? Should you choose to go see this on the biggest screen with the loudest speakers. It is a It's definitely one to see, Dave. I'd like to see it again. I'd like to go back and see it on Imax. Could you imagine what it's that's going to look like? This is definitely a big, big win for the summer box office.

10:46 Um, definitely the best action movie we've seen this year. And we've had some big We've had some big contenders come out and kind of let us down a little bit. But this one, I feel Tom Cruise's he's he's gonna save Hollywood, save the box office again again. Yep. Absolutely. How's this one doing, Dave? It's it's been out for a couple of days. How's it doing at the box office? Um? It's looking just for internet, you know, for within the country. It's about eighty two point one million dollars that it's a pulling hand, which is a pretty good haul. Um. I know this budget was huge. Paramount put a lot of money into this because they had faith and it's it's got some long legs. Man, this movie is gonna make its money back without into doubt.
